Everything Is Copy is Jacob Bernstein’s extremely entertaining tribute to his mother Nora Ephron: the Hollywood-raised daughter of screenwriters who grew up to be an ace reporter turned piercingly funny essayist turned award-winning novelist/screenwriter/playwright/director. The title refers to a piece of cynical advice Ephron’s screenwriter mother gave her about the ups and downs of life: It’s all material. But that so opinionated and open a person died in 2012 keeping her illness secret from nearly everyone was shocking to friends and loved ones. The film features intimate interviews with many of the people closest to her, including her three sisters, Delia, Amy and Hallie Ephron, along with colleagues such as Gay Talese, Marie Brenner, Tom Hanks, Rob Reiner, Meg Ryan, Steven Spielberg and Meryl Streep.
